Decent value for tax prep

I was looking for an affordable way to handle my crypto taxes and stumbled upon CoinTracker. I got a small discount as a new user, which definitely helped make the decision. The Tax Plan covered everything I needed, and the cost basis tracking looked accurate. Compared to hiring an accountant, this was a much better deal, especially since my portfolio isn't huge. Felt like I got good value for the money, saved me some cash.

So easy to use!

CoinTracker is amazing! I was dreading doing my crypto taxes, but this made it a breeze. The interface is so user-friendly, and connecting all my wallets was super fast. I got my Tax Summary Reports in no time. I'm telling all my friends who have crypto about this. Will absolutely be using it again next year!

Good for tax forms

Needed to get my crypto tax forms. CoinTracker generated the 8949 quickly. Connected my exchange and downloaded. It worked. Simple to use.

Mostly good, one small issue

My experience with CoinTracker was generally positive. I purchased the Premium Plan to get all the features, and the multi-wallet sync worked well for most of my accounts. The Tax Loss Harvesting tool seemed effective, which was a big plus. However, a few of my older, smaller transactions from a less common exchange needed manual review and adjustment; the auto-sync didn't quite catch them all. Customer service was helpful when I reached out, guiding me through the manual fixes. Overall, it's a solid service, but not entirely hands-off for complex cases.

Smooth tax season help

I used CoinTracker for my crypto taxes this year, opting for the Enthusiast Plan. The integration with Coinbase was really straightforward, and I also connected a few other exchanges without much trouble. Generating the 8949 form was surprisingly easy, and it imported into TurboTax perfectly. I did have a question about some DeFi transactions, and their support team responded within a day with clear instructions. The portfolio tracking is a nice bonus, giving me a good overview of my holdings. Overall, it made a usually stressful process much simpler.

Thinking about getting CoinTracker but also looked at Koinly. Any thoughts on which one is better, especially for DeFi stuff?

A Amber 2 months ago
I used Koinly for a bit but switched to CoinTracker. For DeFi, CoinTracker seemed to handle my specific staking and LP transactions a bit more accurately, but it really depends on the exact protocols you use.

Both are pretty good. CoinTracker has really solid integrations, especially if you have a lot of different sources. Koinly is also strong. Might just be a preference thing honestly.

Is it safe to link my exchange accounts to CoinTracker? Like, should I be worried about my funds?

R Raj Kaur 2 months ago
They use read-only API keys, so they can only see your transactions, not move your funds. It's generally considered safe practice for these kinds of services.

yeah, they only get view access. your funds are safe. that's how all these tax apps work.

Hey guys, thinking about signing up for a tax plan. How long does it actually take to get all your stuff sorted once you link everything up? I've got a bunch of transactions across different exchanges.

E Emma P. 2 months ago
It really depends on how many transactions you have and how clean your data is. For me, with like 5k transactions, it took a few hours to review everything after I synced my wallets.

yeah, mine was pretty quick, mostly automatic. just had to fix a couple small things where it miscategorized something. less than an hour for me.

Can I pay for this with crypto? Or is it just credit card only?

B Beth M. 2 months ago
Nah, pretty sure it's standard fiat payments only, like card. I don't recall seeing a crypto option when I signed up.

I paid with my card. Haven't seen a crypto payment option there.

I'm a Coinbase user, heard there might be a discount for us? How do you even get that, is it just automatic?

C Chris Bennett 1 month ago
I think for Coinbase, you just connect your account through their integration and it might apply the discount at checkout. Look for a specific prompt or a referral link from Coinbase itself.

Sometimes it's like a special link they provide, not just automatic. Check your Coinbase emails or their promotions page.

Does anyone know if they have a student discount? I'm trying to save some cash wherever I can.

D Derek J. 2 months ago
I've heard of military discounts and stuff, but not sure about student specific ones. Might be worth checking their site or an email to support.

R Ryan Z. 2 months ago
Hmm, I haven't seen a specific student discount mentioned anywhere. They do have referral deals though, maybe find someone with a link?

Anyone know if they actually support NFT tax accounting? I've been doing some dabbling and want to make sure I'm covered.

T Todd Kaur 2 months ago
Yep, they do! I used it for my NFTs last year and it seemed to handle everything fine. Generated the forms without a hitch.

G Gwen Brooks 2 months ago
Yeah, I saw it listed on their features, so I'm pretty sure it's supported.
